National Reference Laboratory for multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria for Germany
In June 2009 a National Reference Centre for multidrug-resistant gram-negative bacteria for
Germany has been established in our department.
Main task of our laboratory is the investigation of Enterobacteriaceae, A. baumannii or P.
aeruginosa
isolates for the presence of carbapenemases.
Our reference laboratory offers:
- testing for the presence of carbapenemase (e. g. KPC, metallo-betalactamases, OXA-48, OXA-23, OXA-40, OXA-58, OXA-143)
- typing of ESBL and plasmid-encoded AmpC enzymes
- analysis for the presence of the aquired colistin resistance mechanism MCR-1
- testing for plasmid-encoded fluoroquinolone resistance determinants (qnr, aac(6')-Ib-cr, qepA)
- strain typing
